YAG Laser: My Experience and Review

I went into the Cosmetic Surgery Center today for Phototherapy, but when I got there the Dr. decided that the YAG laser would be a better treatment for the broken capillaries around my nose. After a quick discussion about the YAG laser I consented to the treatment.

My nose was wiped with alcohol and lubed up with some sort of slippery clear gel, I think it is the same type used for ultrasounds. Anyway, the technician then proceeded to zap away at my broken capillaries. It felt like a bee stinging me each time she hit a new spot and when there was a long capillary that she had to run the laser down the length of it felt like she stuck a hot needle just below my skin then scrapped me with it. I only said “owwww” once and I jumped a couple of times. The zaps just inside my nose were definitely the worst!! My eyes watered as well. The procedure lasted about 15 minutes.

In four weeks I may have to have it done again, depending upon the results from this go around. It stung a little after I left the office, but not much. They gave me an ice pack to put on my nose and strict instructions not to eat spicy food, drink alcohol or workout for 5 days. It looks like I have tiny cat scratches on parts of my nose. The technician said this would happen so I’m not bothered by it. It doesn’t look too bad and I can wear makeup so its ok. The only other side effect is itching. I’m feeling that “healing itch”. My biggest concern right now is trying to remember not to scratch it!

I think the results will be well worth it and at this point post- procedure, I can say that I would do it again. I”ll keep you updated as the healing process proceeds.

Have you had any laser treatments? I’d love to hear about your experience!

Rant: Urban Decay 3/27/12 “Big News” of “Build Your Own Palette”

Like many of you I was waiting for Urban Decay to release their “big news” and  fulfill their promise to “Blow Your Mind”.  My mind was indeed blown as I couldn’t believe the announcement after they made it.

I was expecting a new release, and in a way, I guess that is what I got.  Urban Decay will be reformulating their eyeshadows and releasing them in new packaging.  The packaging will allow you to depot and repot your eyeshadow at will. They call this “Build Your Own Palette” system. The price of these shadows will go from $17 to $18.They will also be selling a six pan palette to put your shadows in which will also run $18.  Sounds great, right?  I’m not so sure!

Inglot already has a “freedom system” where they sell you individual shadows and palettes to put them in.  They have a  very good model.  Their shadows are great and only cost $5 to $7 each which makes putting your palette together fun!.  Urban Decay, on the other hand, will still expect you to pay $18 per shadow to put in your palette.  You might be thinking, I’ll put them in my Z palette.  Well, if that is the plan, get your magnets out.  Urban Decay’s new shadows will not  be magnetized.  Nice!

The Naked Palettes provide 12 full sized shadows for $50.  If you purchased those same full sized shadows to fill your new Urban Decay palette, it would run you $216 plus the cost of 2 palettes at $18 per palette to put them in.  Of course you can buy the individual shades and keep them in their container.  There will be no “palette deal” here.  You will be paying full price plus some if you get the palette to put your shadows in.  To be fair you will receive one shadow with each $18 palette along with a travel size Good Karma brush.  The included shadow is a neutral shade and you will get the same shade in each and every palette you purchase.

All of this being said and despite the fact that I’m not happy about this change, I do need to disclose to you that I am an Urban Decay Junkie. I’m still going to buy their products, they are high quality and I love them. If I didn’t this would be enough to turn me off, but unfortunately I’m addicted to the brand, that’s a fact!

So what do you think about Urban Decay’s new idea??  I’d love to know!

Lancome Aquatique Waterproof Eyeshadow Base/Primer in Nude

When I first tired Lancome’s Aquatique waterproof eyeshadow base/primer, I didn’t think I would like it.  It seemed oily on the top and I thought it would go right through to the bottom.  I was wrong.  When the top layer was used up it gave way to a consistency closer to a Mac Paintpot.  It got better though.  It has better staying power than a Paintpot.  In fact, I prefer Lancome Aquatique to Painterly Paintpot……I never in my life thought I would say that!  It just goes to show that first impressions aren’t always correct.  I’m glad I gave this product a chance.  Hope you enjoy the review!

I’ve been loving the Tarina Tarantino eyeshadow duo that I picked up a couple of months ago, so of course I was curious about the line’s blushes.  I chose the color Feather to start out with and I’m not disappointed!

Its are really pretty color, smooth in consistency and it blends well.  Here is my full review. I’ve included pictures at the end.   I hope you enjoy it!!
