New Milani Powdered Eyeshadows

I’m in total love! Have you seen the new Milani Powdered eyeshadows? They are awesome!! I went to every CVS in my area at least three times trying to hunt down these CVS exclusive shadows. Finally, after looking with no success, I went to the CVS website and low and behold there they were!

I got most of the colors I wanted, 2 were sold out:( Anyway, they arrived in pretty good shape, although one was slightly broken. My box had been badly abused by USPS so I’m surprised more weren’t damaged. Here are the colors I picked up!

White Lie is a matte white. Its hard to build to a stark white color and kind of chalky. Its matte. It works very well as a highlight. I liked French Vanilla much better. Its a cream color. Even though its also matte, it seemed to apply much easier. Mattes are sometimes hard to deal with though and at this price point I’m not complaining about White Lie! I’ll take it all day long! Brown Stone is a gorgeous chocolate brown. Its matte. The formula is very pigmented and easy to blend. I’m loving Gold Dust. Its a gorgeous gold shade, not to orange:) Yea! Its high shimmer, which I like:) We can all use a little shimmer in our lives!!

Tickled Pink is a soft shimmery pink shade. Shocking Pink is a loud, hot pink shade. Its matte. Its gorgeous, but the formula is a little on the dry side. I still like it though. Just Perfect is indeed perfect. Its pigmented and gorgeous. Its a green with shimmer and it flashes aqua blue in some lights. Woohoo!! I do love a good duo chrome eyeshadow!

On the whole these shades are highly pigmented, with the exception of White Lie and French Vanilla, which swatch ok, but upon transfer to the eye gets a little lost on me. I’m fine with that because these are highlight colors and I don’t want them to be too out there, you know what I mean? I’m very pale, NC 20, so they will probably show up a little better on darker skin tones if you are looking for more of a punch of color. I think out of the two French Vanilla is my favorite.

Milani has done an awesome job with the matte shades. These are notoriously hard shadows to make and even high end lines struggle to get it right. Are they perfect? No, but they are definitely competing with some of the higher end matte formulas. The shimmer shades are beautiful. They are a dream to blend.

These shades are a CVS exclusive. You can get them at your local store or online at http://www.cvs.com. They retail for $4.99 each, what a great deal! Sometimes CVS runs specials buy one, get one 1/2 off. You can also get them directly from Milani at http://www.milanicosmetics.com/ , but you will pay $5.99 for them there.

The only disappointment I had with this order was that one shadow was slightly broken and that they were sold out of Caramel Brown and Olympian Blue, which I desperately need in my life! The hunt is on!

OPI Spiderman Mini Nail Polish

Have you seen the OPI Spiderman Nail laquers? There were two colors that I really, really wanted from the collection. They were “Into the Night” and “Your Web or Mine?”. I planned on picking both of these up at $8.50 a pop, but I found this mini set for around $12 at Ulta that had those two colors in it so I thought that was a deal!

“Into the Night” is a shimmery, almost navy blue with a purple undertone. Its really pretty. This one is my favorite of the bunch. It does apply sheer, though, so you will need 2 to 3 coats to build the color.

“Number One Nemesis” is a shimmery, metallic dirty green. The shimmer gives off a golden cast. Just like “Into the Night”, you will need two or 3 coats to build the color because it is very sheer. It is a lot like Chanel’s Graphite.

“Your Web or Mine” is a rosy pink with a frost finish. I was disappointed in this color:( It was streaky, even after 2 coats. Its such a shame because its such a pretty color.

“Just Spotted the Lizard” is a dirty green with gold duo chrome. It has sort of an antique feel about it. Personally, this is not a color that I gravitate toward. If you liked Chane’s Peridot, you will like this shade.

This is a limited edition shade for Summer 2012.

Mac Heavenly Creature: What Did Christy Order?

Mac has done it again! They released another collection before the official release date. This time it is the Heavenly Creature collection, which is their mineralized collection for summer 2012.

Its a fairly large collection, to say the least. They have everything from Skinfinishes, blushes, eyeshadows, brushes, lipsticks, cremesheen glasses and skincare.

So what did I pick up from this collections?

Three mineralized eyeshadows in Sky, Universal Appeal and Aurora.
One mineralized skinfinish in Light Year
Two lipsticks in Fire Sign and Cut the Caper
Two Cremesheen Glass glosses in Meteoric and Galaxy Rose

I’ll do a youtube haul when these arrive and then a review just as soon as I get a chance to play with them.

Are you going to pick anything up and if so what are you going to get? I’d love to hear!!!!

How To Clean / Sanitize your Clarisonic and Olay Brush Heads

I’ve come up with a nifty way to sanitize the brush heads for your Clarisonic or Olay face brush. Put them in the dishwasher! My hygienist told me to sanitize my Sonicare toothbrush heads in the dishwasher so I decided to give it a go with my Olay brush head. It worked:) Yea!

Review: Milani Eyeshadow Pencils

One of ilani’s latest releases has been their cream eyeshadow pencils. They come in a variety of colors from neutrals to bold brights.

These pencils are really nice.  They are creamy and do not tug at your eyelid when you apply them.  They blend well (the white one blends a little too well for certain eye looks).  I didn’t have any creasing and they easily lasted a good 10 hours without fading.

The only issue I had was with the white pencil.  These pencils claim to be highly pigmented, which the blue one is, but when you touch the white shadow, it turns into a sheen.  Its pretty, don’t get me wrong, but the color is almost impossible to build.  It makes a beautiful highlight though.

So, have you picked up any of these shadows and if so what do you think of them?

Dupe: Tarte Airbrush Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush

I love Tarte’s Airbrush Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush, but I don’t love the price. At $32, its kind of steep, but I got it with the foundation in a deal on QVC so it wasn’t so bad.

The dupe is very affordable. It is the Eco Tools Bamboo Bronzer brush. Its slightly smaller in width than Tarte’s brush, but it preforms the same. I love the both! The Eco Tools brush is $12.49 at Ulta and if you catch the right sale you can get the Eco Tools brushes buy one, get one 1/2 off. That deal is going on as I type, by the way!
