Neutrogena Extra Gentle Eye Makeup Remover Pads Review

I’m always on the hunt for a gentle eye makeup remover since I have super sensitive eyes.  I decided to try Neutrogena’s Extra Gentle Eye Makeup Remover Pads in hopes of finding a new holy grail product.  I found a “what in the heck?” product instead.

Neutrogena claims that these thick, soft pads remove waterproof mascara, leave no oily residue and are safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens users.  You are supposed to use the pads and then wash your face.

The pads are thick and soft, but they are soooo dry.  I thought that I had gotten a bad batch, even though the product was sealed.  I checked other reviews and found that almost everyone had the same problem.  They are just over-sized dry cotton pads that are barely damp with remover.  I pulled all of the pads out and grabbed the one from the bottom.  It was a little more saturated with remover, but not nearly as much as I would like or expect.  It was merely a little more damp than the one on top.

When I began removing my eye makeup I noticed three things, the first was that the cotton pad was tugging at my eyes, the second was that my mascara was coming off a little, but not as much as I would have hoped and finally oh good golly gracious did it burn!!  Everywhere the cotton pad touched, on my eyelids and below my eyes, burned like I had put straight alcohol on them.

(Looking at the camera that close was making my eyes want to cross.  LOL)

This is not going to work for me.  I know that beauty is sometimes pain, but I prefer it in the form of lasers and less in the area of eye makeup removal.  At least I get better benefits from the pain of a laser.

I still had to use extra remover to get my eye makeup off.  Perhaps if I had been able to stand the torture a little longer I would have been able to say it was a decent remover, but I couldn’t go that long.  No ma’am I’m not that tough!!

I do not recommend these for anyone with sensitive eyes, it will make you have a frowny face!.
