I’m not going to lie, I laughed a little when I read about the Diorshow New Look mascara ad being banned in the
UK because Natalie Portman’s eyelashes were too long. Who would have thought it?
The UK Advertising Standard’s Authority ruled on October 24th that the Dior ad “must not appear again in its current form”. They found that there were post production techniques used that might mislead consumers about the efficacy of the mascara. Portman’s lashes were enhanced using Photoshop CS5.1. You might wonder why the ASA investigated this particular ad, well I have the answer. The investigation arose out of a complaint filed by L’oreal. Continue reading Dior Ad Banned In The UK! Those Eyelashes Are Too Long to Girl!!
Hey guys! Just a quick blog to let you know that I have returned from Rite Aid and Physician’s Formula eye products and concealers are buy one get one FREE this week!!! You can’t beat that. I do love a true BOGO sale. You can get buy one get one 50% almost every week, but buy one get on free is truly worth celebrating. I picked up the 2 matte palettes that everyone is talking so much about. I’ll haul them in the next few days:) Are you going pick up any Physician’s Formula? Let me know what you get!!
Good news, Loreal has a great new formula in their new gel eyeliner. I picked up one of the new Loreal Infallible 24 hour Lacquer Liners to give it a test drive. I had high expectations and was not disappointed.
This is what Loreal says about them:
“L’Oreal Infallible Lacquer Liner 24H for eye design that is simply sophisticated. 24 hours of flawless, fade-free color with a unique lacquered finish. Mistake-proof application plus the ability to customize your line with a smooth-gliding brush. Ophthalmologist tested. Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers. ”
These gel liners do have some shine, but if you don’t like that you can always put a matte shadow of the same color over them. They last all day without budging or fading. We will never know if they last 24 hours because I don’t leave my makeup on for 24 hours, not even in the interest of science. LOL It comes with a brush that is okay. Its not my favorite, but I don’t hate it. It doesn’t come to a fine tip, so its a little “different”. Its not mistake proof, no gel eyeliner is. I’m not sure why Loreal says that the liner is mistake proof. Perhaps its because they never met me. I made a mistake with the brush on my first attempt trying to figure out how best to use it. The formula glides on smoothly and is very pigmented. It did not bother my sensitive eyes.
I’ll pick these up in the future instead of the Mac Fluidlines and Bobbie Brown gel eyeliners because I believe they preform just as well. Of course, if Mac or Bobbie Brown have a cool color I’ll pick that up too, but for the basic black, brown bronze, etc, Loreal has my vote.
The Laquer Liner retails for $9.99 at Ulta. It comes with the eyeliner brush. You can also get them at any drugstore, but the price may vary, as is the way with drugstore items. Different drugstores charge different amounts.
So have you tried these? I’d love to hear your view on them!
I purchased these items and was not compensated for this review. As always, these are my own, honest opinions.
Mac has launches their Fall 2012 mineral collection, Heavenly Creatures. It seems a little early for fall collections, especially given the heat wave we have been under, but alas, here it is. Get ready for fall.
I picked up a few things from the collection including eyeshadows, a blush, a mineralized skin finish, lipstick and lipglasses. Its a large collection so my haul was small when compared to the offerings.
I got four eyeshadows, but I was disappointed in two of them. Sky, the blue shadow, fell a little flat in my opinion. Also, Universal Appeal was a disappointment. I was expecting more purple, but when swatched its just brown:( That’s the problem with mineralized eyeshadows. They look beautiful in the pan, but sometimes they don’t swatch well. Magnetic Attraction is beautiful in the pan and swatched. Aurora is a brown, but you can still pick up a hint of the peach undertones. Its a pretty shadow as well, especially when used wet.
They are offering four Mineralized Skin Finishes. I picked up the one in Light Year. Its a pretty peachy pink with gold micro glitter. Unfortunately I had an allergic reaction to it. For those of you who can use it, it is very pretty. This one did accentuate pores on my cheeks.
I picked up one of the blushes, Ring of Saturn. Its a pretty red color that gives you a bit of a sunburned look.
I also picked up 2 lipsticks, Cut the Caper and Fire Sign. Cut the Caper is a repromote. Its an orangy coral. It has a luster finish.
Fire Sign is a beautiful pinky red. It has lustre finish.
To go with Cut the Caper lipstick, I picked up Meteoric Cremesheen Glass. Its a pretty coral lipgloss with orange shimmer. Like all Cremesheen Glasses, it is sticky.
I also picked up Galaxy Rose Cremesheen Glass to go with Fire Sign lipstick. Its a beautiful pinky red. It is sticky as well.
So that is it for my Mac Heavenly Creatures haul. Did you pick up anything?
I purchased all of these items and am not being rewarded or compensated to mention any items. As always these are my own, honest opinions.
I’m in total love! Have you seen the new Milani Powdered eyeshadows? They are awesome!! I went to every CVS in my area at least three times trying to hunt down these CVS exclusive shadows. Finally, after looking with no success, I went to the CVS website and low and behold there they were!
I got most of the colors I wanted, 2 were sold out:( Anyway, they arrived in pretty good shape, although one was slightly broken. My box had been badly abused by USPS so I’m surprised more weren’t damaged. Here are the colors I picked up!
White Lie is a matte white. Its hard to build to a stark white color and kind of chalky. Its matte. It works very well as a highlight. I liked French Vanilla much better. Its a cream color. Even though its also matte, it seemed to apply much easier. Mattes are sometimes hard to deal with though and at this price point I’m not complaining about White Lie! I’ll take it all day long! Brown Stone is a gorgeous chocolate brown. Its matte. The formula is very pigmented and easy to blend. I’m loving Gold Dust. Its a gorgeous gold shade, not to orange:) Yea! Its high shimmer, which I like:) We can all use a little shimmer in our lives!!
Tickled Pink is a soft shimmery pink shade. Shocking Pink is a loud, hot pink shade. Its matte. Its gorgeous, but the formula is a little on the dry side. I still like it though. Just Perfect is indeed perfect. Its pigmented and gorgeous. Its a green with shimmer and it flashes aqua blue in some lights. Woohoo!! I do love a good duo chrome eyeshadow!
On the whole these shades are highly pigmented, with the exception of White Lie and French Vanilla, which swatch ok, but upon transfer to the eye gets a little lost on me. I’m fine with that because these are highlight colors and I don’t want them to be too out there, you know what I mean? I’m very pale, NC 20, so they will probably show up a little better on darker skin tones if you are looking for more of a punch of color. I think out of the two French Vanilla is my favorite.
Milani has done an awesome job with the matte shades. These are notoriously hard shadows to make and even high end lines struggle to get it right. Are they perfect? No, but they are definitely competing with some of the higher end matte formulas. The shimmer shades are beautiful. They are a dream to blend.
These shades are a CVS exclusive. You can get them at your local store or online at http://www.cvs.com. They retail for $4.99 each, what a great deal! Sometimes CVS runs specials buy one, get one 1/2 off. You can also get them directly from Milani at http://www.milanicosmetics.com/ , but you will pay $5.99 for them there.
The only disappointment I had with this order was that one shadow was slightly broken and that they were sold out of Caramel Brown and Olympian Blue, which I desperately need in my life! The hunt is on!
I purchased these items myself and as always, these are my own honest opinions.

One of ilani’s latest releases has been their cream eyeshadow pencils. They come in a variety of colors from neutrals to bold brights.
These pencils are really nice. They are creamy and do not tug at your eyelid when you apply them. They blend well (the white one blends a little too well for certain eye looks). I didn’t have any creasing and they easily lasted a good 10 hours without fading.
The only issue I had was with the white pencil. These pencils claim to be highly pigmented, which the blue one is, but when you touch the white shadow, it turns into a sheen. Its pretty, don’t get me wrong, but the color is almost impossible to build. It makes a beautiful highlight though.
So, have you picked up any of these shadows and if so what do you think of them?
I purchased these products myself and as always these are my own, honest opinions.
I don’t know about you guys, but I have been to every CVS in my area at least 3 times each trying to find the new Milani Powdered Eyeshadows. For whatever reason it escaped me to look on the cvs.com for them…..until tonight!
In desperation I hopped on the web and sure enough, there were the shadows, well, most of them anyway. I really wanted Caramel Brown and Olympian Blue, but they were sold out. Anyway, I was able to get the other ones I wanted and I got 20% off with the coupon code 20DISCOUNT. This code is good until June 24th so if you want some of these shadows, or anything else on the site for that matter (its 20% off everything) hurry up. The discount gives you $1 off each shadow making them $3.99 each.
I did have to pay shipping, grrrrr, but hey, I’ve spent more than that running around from one CVS to another trying to hunt these eyeshadows down.
Of course I’ll haul them when they get here, but in case you are interested I picked up Brown Stone, Just Perfect, Gold Dust, White Lie, French Vanilla, Tickled Pink and Shocking Pink. They were $27.93 after the 20% off, but my shipping was $5.49.
Can’t wait to get them and show them to you!! Have you picked any up or have you been running around trying to find them? Do share!!
