REVIEW: Dior DiorShow Heat Curl Heating Lash Curler

I was so excited to try Dior’s new DiorShow Heat Curl Heating Lash Curler. I picked one up while I was in Vegas at Sephora for $25. I was excited to get back to my hotel room and give it a go. I pulled it out of its shiny packaging, read the instructions, put the battery in and fired the thing up. (It comes with a battery included and a separate brush to clean the curler).

I waited for the red light to turn green as the insert instructed, and waited and waited. It never turned green. I did some research and found out that a ton of people had the same experience as me. I tried the lash curler after 30 minutes of it “warming up” without the light turning green and got a slight curl. This was enough to keep me in the game. I went back to Sephora to exchange it for one that would heat up all the way. The sales associate asked me if she could test the new one, just to make sure it heated up. After 5 minutes of no green light the sales associate said “I don’t want to sale this to you, its not working properly”. Many people have had the same problem, as you can see from online reviews, including those on the Sephora website. Some people get ones that turn green and they are apparently a dream to work with and others, like myself, are having no luck.

I think this would be an excellent product, if there was better quality control. For a Dior product, it is unacceptable that so many have a manufacturer’s defect. I cannot recommend this product to you for that reason. I did take some pics for you to see before I returned it to Sephora.

Have you tried this curler and if so, did you have any luck? Let me know. I’m so disappointed:(

Eylure Katy Perry Eyelashes

Hi guys! I picked up two of the new Eylure Katy Perry eye lashes from Ulta. The Sweetie Pie ones are my favorite. The Kitty Cool are pretty, but a pain to work with. Although both were harder than the regular Eylure lashes to apply, the Kitty Cool gave me the most headache. The bands on both sets are more or less straight and they want to stay in that shape, making it difficult to place on the eye. If you get these, watch the corners. They will sneak up on you! I do not recommend these for beginners! Have you tried any of the Katy Perry styles from Eylure? If so, what was your experience?

Nars Lhasa Eyeshadow

Nars has released a beautiful new taupe eye shadow with their Spring 2012 collection. Its Nars’ Lhasa. Its absolutely gorgeous. Its grey with a purple lean to it. I’m in love! They also released a trio, which was pink based and a duo which was more green based, but I wasn’t crazy about either of those. However, they are limited edition so if your interested get them before they are gone! Lhasa has been added to the permanent collection. Yea!!!
Did you pickup anything from the Spring collection? Let me know!

Laura Mercier Eye and Cheek Palette

Laura Mercier has released a new Eye and Cheek Palette for Spring of 2012. This is a limited edition product and a Sephora exclusive.  It includes six eye shadows and two blushes.  For $60 its a really good deal.  I’m in love!

The blushes are beautiful and the eye shadows are too.  They blend well. The right side of the palette is more purple based, while the left side is more neutral. The eyes shadows include matte and shimmer finishes.

The eye shadow shades are in  Buff Pearl, Tawny Apricot, Rich Cocoa, Pale Pink, African Violet and Black Plum. The cheek colors included are Rose Desire and Fresh Peach.

Are you planning on getting this palette.  Let me know!

REVIEW: Tarina Tarantino Eye Dream Highlighting Duo in Moon Opal and Iris Plume

I finally decided to try out the Tarina Tarantino eye shadows.  I picked up one of the new Eye Dream Highlighting Duos in Moon Opal and  Iris Plume.  I have to admit, I was impressed!   They are really nice, soft and smooth eye shadows.  They blend like a dream. I believe they have the ability to give fallout, but I tapped my brush off  really well before I put them on my eye and I didn’t notice any fallout.  If you don’t tap your brush off, I expect you will experience eye shadow in places you don’t want it.  If you like any of their colors then definitely give them a try.  I expect I will be purchasing more. I really liked this duo.  I want to try their blushes as well.  Let me know your thoughts on this line.  If you haven’t tried it, do you plan on giving it a go?  I’d love to hear from you!

Stila “In The Garden” Palette

Stila has released two palettes for Spring 2012. My favorite is “In The Garden”. It comes in a pretty light green palette. When you look at the colors, the first thing that goes through your mind is “green”. Its a happy palette:) It comes with a smudge stick in Starfish. Its such a pretty eyeliner! Swatches are in the video. This is one of my favorite Spring offerings from any brand!

Stila Smudge Crayons

OMG, I’m loving Stila’s new Smudge Crayons. They released them with their Spring 2012 collection. I picked up one in Smoke, just to give it a try. After I gave it a go, I went back and got Kitten. I’m seriously considering picking up the rose colored one too. They do tug a little when you apply them on your eyelid straight from the stick, but you can rub them on your finger and smooth them on. I just apply it straight from the crayon, the tugging in not too bothersome to me. They act as a good base and they also look great by themselves. I use Smoke as a liner too. They have a wide range of colors. I think they are good stuff! Have you tried them? If so, what colors did you get???? Did you like them? Give me details!!:)

NYX Cream Eyeshadow : Spring 2012

For Spring 2012 NYX launched a cream eyeshadow line.  Now, I am a huge fan of most NYX products.  This one….not so much!  Its bad, really bad.  Its patchy and the Frost Beige shade made me look like I had a serious issue going on on my eyelids. Were talking about bad.  It looked like I had little skin flakes all over my eyelid.  I tried different bases, I tried no base, there is no amount of work that can make these little suckers work.  If you haven’t tried other NYX products, don’t discount the others because of this one.  Their powder shadows are great, but they missed the mark here:(  Have you tried them?  What do you think?
