tube

I just tried my first Laura Mercier Lip Glacé and I must say that I like it!  The packaging is pretty, the formula, although a little sticky, is not too sticky and it smells divine, like spun sugar. YUM!

Review: YSL Golden Glosses

I’m starting my journey into the YSL brand. I first started off with the lipstain (review to come.. short and sweet of it is that I like them:)  I also picked up two of the Golden Glosses to try.

Here is what YSL says about them:

“Worth its weight in gold, this gorgeous gloss dresses lips in a sophisticated, high-shine shimmer that’s truly precious. Sparkling 24 carat gold flecks (0.2%) create a mirror-like effect for guaranteed glamour, while a complex of nourishing oils protect and hydrate for optimal comfort. Scented with a subtle hint of Mango that’s utterly irresistible.”

The glosses are beautiful to look at.  They are not sticky and they shine like no bodies business!  They have decent staying power too.  If they had a different smell and taste I would be in super love.  Sadly, they are a mango, watermelon with a hint of number 2 pencil lead flavor:(  I hate the smell and taste.  Why do we need everything to have a taste?  Despite YSL’s claim, I can resist! I don’t get it.  The worst part is that these glosses have such a strong flavor and scent that it changes the taste of your food if you eat with them on.  Yucky Poo!

If I could stand the scent I would purchase them again, but sadly, I just don’t like it.  I can’t deal!  I’m going to wear the two I have, but no more, not unless they change the scent.  Hint Hint to YSL if you are reading this, I will buy a ton of these babies if you will change the scent, please!!!

These glosses retail for $30.  I got mine at Sephora and Nordstrom.  You can also get them at sephora.com, nordstrom.com, yslbeautyus.com and anywhere YSL is sold.

Benefit Ultra Plush Glosses

Benefit has added a new gloss to match their best selling boxed blushes. I just love the blushes so, of course, I had to try their namesakes’ matching glosses. Check it out!

The glosses come in squeeze tubes. They are decorated to match their coordinating blush. They all have a cherry sent with a slight cherry flavor. They are slick glosses and have a little stick, but not much at all.

Bella Bomba is a gorgeous rosey red, Coralista is a beautiful hot coral color, Dandelion is a shimmery peach shade, SugarBomb is a mauve shade with shimmer and Dallas is a gorgeous nude. They are all beautiful! Hula is also available.

I purchased these from HSN, but I saw the full sized glosses in Ulta the other day. They retail for $16 each and the travel set retails for $26. A full sized gloss is .05 oz and the travel glosses are.22 ozs each. You can order the full size glosses from www.benefit.com, www.ulta.com, www.sephora.com and www.hsn.com. You can also purchase them at Ulta and Sephora stores.

Mac Heavenly Creature: What Did Christy Order?

Mac has done it again! They released another collection before the official release date. This time it is the Heavenly Creature collection, which is their mineralized collection for summer 2012.

Its a fairly large collection, to say the least. They have everything from Skinfinishes, blushes, eyeshadows, brushes, lipsticks, cremesheen glasses and skincare.

So what did I pick up from this collections?

Three mineralized eyeshadows in Sky, Universal Appeal and Aurora.
One mineralized skinfinish in Light Year
Two lipsticks in Fire Sign and Cut the Caper
Two Cremesheen Glass glosses in Meteoric and Galaxy Rose

I’ll do a youtube haul when these arrive and then a review just as soon as I get a chance to play with them.

Are you going to pick anything up and if so what are you going to get? I’d love to hear!!!!

Benefit Launches Lipgloss to Match Box Powders & Coupon Code

I was reading the Muse’s website ( http://www.musingsofamuse.com ) and ran across some really exciting news!! Benefit is launching new Ultra Plush Lipglosses in squeeze tubes to match their popular Box Blushes.

I love Benefit’s Boxed Blushes so I had to jump on the bandwagon and get some Ultra Plush Lipglosses! The Muse made that easy because she provided a wonderful coupon code allowing us to save $10 off a beauty order from HSN.com . The coupon code is 10off25beauty. You also get free shipping:) Thanks Muse!!

As far as I know, at this time, HSN is the only place you can get these products now, with the exception of Sephora. Sephora does not have the entire line, but their “deal of the week” is a trial size Dandelion Blush with a matching Dandelion lipgloss:) Yea!

I purchased the four piece lipgloss set from HSN along with the full sized Dallas lipgloss. The set includes Coralista, Dandelion, Bella Bomba and Sugar Bomb. These are not full sized products. The price for the set is $26.00, but with my $10 discount I only paid $16. The full sized Dallas gloss was $16. All of the glosses can be purchased separately for $16 each, including Coralista, Hoola, Dandelion, Bella Bomba, Dallas and Sugar Bomb. If you need the blush too, they have a great deal, get the blush and the full sized lipgloss for only $29.50. You can’t beat that!

For pictures, etc, visit the Muse’s site at http://www.musingsofamuse.com/2012/06/hsn-10-off-25-coupon-code.html

So, are you going to pick any up?

Hard Candy Cosmetics: My Collection and Thoughts on the Brand

Hard Candy Cosmetics used to be a high end brand. Now is found only at Walmart. Some people say that the product is not as good as its once was since it was reformulate to be a lower end brand. This is probably true, but there are still some really awesome products that I think you might want to take a look at.

I like their baked eyeshadow duos. They are bendable with good pigmentation. The duo colors complement each other nicely. I’m a big fan.

As for their bronzers, have only tried two, Tiki and Tropics. They are both shimmery. In my opinion they both perform better as highlighters, but you could use them for an all over glow. Tropics has gold shimmer and Tiki is more of a campaign highlight. They are both finely milled. Great for drugstore highlighters (even though they are marketed as bronzers:)

The baked blushes are really pretty. They are not matte, they have more of a satin finish. A couple of them are shimmery.

Their glosses are really good. I like a little sparkle in my life and they don’t disappoint! They also have glosses without sparkle too, for those of you who like their gloss a little tame. Don’t get the coffee one mentioned in the video though, it smells like Compound W. Gross!

I’m also not a fan of the 10000 Lashes mascara that I tried. It was very dry and did not want to transfer onto my lashes:( Perhaps it was a bad tube, but we will never know because I’m not buying another one to find out.

Have you tried any Hard Candy products? What did you think?

Butter London Lippy Review

I picked up two of the new Lippy’s from Butter London.  I got Yummy Mummy and Trout Pout.  I was super excited to get my hands on them, but the payoff has been bitter sweet, both figuratively and literally.

The Lippy lipglosses match the corresponding nail polishes in color.  Yummy Mummy is a greyish brown based nude.  Its perhaps the prettiest nude lipgloss I own.  I’m in love with the color.  Trout Pout is more of a corally cantaloupe color.  Its really pretty.

This gloss is very sticky, but for me that was not the turnoff.  I don’t mind a little sticky in my gloss as it usually makes it last longer.  The glosses wear was average and your going to have to reapply it every hour or two, especially if you eat or drink something.  The part that I can’t smell is the taste and smell.

These glosses smell like a mixture between watermelon (which I hate) and flowers.  They taste like watermelon mixed with flowers and a chemical of sorts.  You know how when you spray a perfume and some of it gets into your mouth?  Its that same chemical taste.  In fact, it tastes like you would expect a watermelon flower perfume to taste if you accidently inhaled it through your mouth right after spraying it.  You get chemical along with notes of watermelon on flowers.  Not a tasty delight, I can tell you that!!

If it weren’t for the scent, and especially the taste, I would get more of these glosses, but because of the offending taste (I can get over the scent), I cannot  recommend this, which makes me sad:(  If you can stand the taste they are gorgeous glosses, if  your like me and are sensitive to these scents and tastes, skip this.

So have you tried the Butter London Lippy’s?  If so, what color did you get and what did you think about it?

Have an awesome day!!!

Bobbie Brown Spring 2012: Miami Coral Lipstick and Bare Sparkle Lipgloss

I stopped by the Bobbie Brown counter the other day and looked at the Spring line. I picked up a lipstick and a lipgloss. I’m in love with both of them!

Miami Coral lipstick is almost like a coral nude. Its not too bright, not too pale, just perfect. The Bare Sparkle lipgloss is a super pale peach with shimmer. Together they are fantastic, but they had other lipglosses that would go with Miami Coral too. Did you pick up anything from the Spring collection?
