New Drugstore Spring 2013 Products for Maybelline

It seems like everyone is stepping up their drugstore game for Spring 2014. Maybelline is no exception.  I’ve ran into some displays at my local Meijer, Ulta and Rite Aid stores. Check it out!

Maybelline has released 6 shades of MasterGlaze cream blush sticks so far that I have seen. They are also releasing Master Hi-Light light boosting blushes and bronzers. I saw 4 blushes and 2 bronzers in the line.

New Color Show nail polish displays are appearing as well.

Covergirl Spring 2014 Releases are Hitting Drugstores:)

When I went to Rite Aid yesterday I found a new display from Covergirl.  I then went to Ulta and they had it there too so its very likely that one of your drustores either has it or will be getting it in really soon!

They are offering 3 new types of goodies here, 2 of which I picked up. I picked up one of the concealer sticks and also the “TruMagic Skin Perfector”. They also have 2 cream luminizers. One is a gold and the other a bronze. I think the bronze one is more suited for deeper skin types than mine, the other one could probably be worn by most people.  Of course, this is just a guess since I didn’t pick either one of them up, but I did use their testers (OMG thank you Covergirl for giving us testers, you are the bomb diggity dog!!) and those are my initial swatching thoughts.

Honestly, instead of my cheeks, my first thought upon swatching the gold highlighter (luminizer) was “I bet this would be really pretty layered over eyeshadow, right in the center of the eye for a pop of gold shimmer.  I may end up going back and getting it. Shocking I know! LOL  I have not had a chance to test the other two products yet.

So what are your thoughts?  Are you excited about any of these? Have you seen this or any other Covergirl Spring 2014 display in your drugstores?

Elizabeth Arden Rose Illumination Highlighter Review

I’m loving rose gold anything lately. I like it in eyeshadow, jewelry, nail polish and, most recently, I love it as a highlighter.

My friend Prissy, from prissyandpink raved about the Elizabeth Arden Rose Illumination Highlighter. She said that it was gorgeous and that I needed it! In proper fashion I went out and purchased one for myself…and boy was she right! Its gorgeous.

The packaging is a shiny, rose gold compact with a generous mirror. It doesn’t look like much in the pan, just sort of pinkish, but swatch it and it comes to life! It catches the light “just so”. There is something about it. It just illuminates everything it touches, namely my cheek bones, nose and once in a while my brow bone and inner corner if I’m feeling frisky that day.

It is a limited edition product so get to your Elizabeth Arden counters right away if you want one. Its such a fabulous product that maybe they will bring it back. It needs to be permanent, it really does!! Thanks Prissy, as always you were spot on!!

Review: Too Faced Candelight Glow Highlighter/Illuminator

I’m always excited to see what Too Faced is going to release next.  I was not disappointed this season.  They released a lot of fun things, but my favorite of the bunch was the new Candelight Glow highlighter.  What can I say? I love it!

As you would expect from Too Faced, the packaging is just too cute. It has a chandelier on it and they have also embossed a chandelier on the product to match. How cute!

The product is actually two different highlighters. One is a white gold and the other is a pale pink.  They both give you a beautiful luminescent glow. They have just the right amount of shimmer, but no chunky glitter.  Yea!  You can use them separately or mix them if you like.  They both look beautiful on the cheek bones, nose, cupid’s bow and eyes.  To sweeten the deal you are getting both of these highlighters for $29.  That is a good value for two high end highlighters.  You are usually looking at paying around $30 for just one highlighter shade.

You can purchase this product at www.toofaced.com, sephora and sephora.com, ulta and ulta.com and anywhere Too Faced products are sold.

Hard Candy Cosmetics: My Collection and Thoughts on the Brand

Hard Candy Cosmetics used to be a high end brand. Now is found only at Walmart. Some people say that the product is not as good as its once was since it was reformulate to be a lower end brand. This is probably true, but there are still some really awesome products that I think you might want to take a look at.

I like their baked eyeshadow duos. They are bendable with good pigmentation. The duo colors complement each other nicely. I’m a big fan.

As for their bronzers, have only tried two, Tiki and Tropics. They are both shimmery. In my opinion they both perform better as highlighters, but you could use them for an all over glow. Tropics has gold shimmer and Tiki is more of a campaign highlight. They are both finely milled. Great for drugstore highlighters (even though they are marketed as bronzers:)

The baked blushes are really pretty. They are not matte, they have more of a satin finish. A couple of them are shimmery.

Their glosses are really good. I like a little sparkle in my life and they don’t disappoint! They also have glosses without sparkle too, for those of you who like their gloss a little tame. Don’t get the coffee one mentioned in the video though, it smells like Compound W. Gross!

I’m also not a fan of the 10000 Lashes mascara that I tried. It was very dry and did not want to transfer onto my lashes:( Perhaps it was a bad tube, but we will never know because I’m not buying another one to find out.

Have you tried any Hard Candy products? What did you think?

Review: Maybelline Spring 2012 Bouncy Bronzers and Illuminators

Maybelline has launched their Spring 2012 collection. It includes 2 Bouncy Bronzers and 2 Illuminators.

The bronzers come in two colors, Glistening Sun and Sun Glow. I did not like the Bouncy Bronzers. They have a little shimmer, which I didn’t find bothersome, but what I didn’t like about them was that both of them had a strong orange undertone. Not flattering!! Bronzers should look natural. I love the “bouncy” formula as far as texture. The bronzers are not long wearing. Just like the bouncy blushes, they have about a 4 hour wear.

The Illuminators are really good for a drugstore formula. They come in Ray of Gold (yellow) and Blissful Pink (pink)  They are not as finely milled as a high end highlighter.  They are a little chunky and they have some micro glitter.  The yellow one looked flat out yellow on my skin.  It is not a golden color.  The pink one has a really pretty hue to it.  I liked it. If you don’t want to put a lot of money into an illuminator, this is your product.  They run around $9.

So, what do you think?  Have you picked them up and if so, what are your thoughts. If not, are you going to add these to your collection?  I’d love to know!!

TARTE AMAZONIAN CLAY FOUNDATION & MARACUJA BLUSH AND GLOW

I picked up two of Tarte’s new releases from their Spring 2012 launch.

I found the Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Full Coverage Foundation to be buildable with a light weight feeling, providing medium to full coverage depending upon how much you layer. Its very blendable and looks lovely on the face. I do recommend the foundation. It is long lasting and did not oxidize on my skin. It has an SPF 15 and is marketed as a “smart foundation”, adjusting to your skin type due to the Amazonian Clay. It retails for $38 for 1.7 oz of product. You can purchase it wherever Tarte products are sold.

I was not a huge fan of the Maracuja Blush and Glow. I wanted to love it, I really did, but the ratio of blush to luminizer was ridiculous. I got the shade “Candlelight” and the luminizer just did not highlight for my fair NC 20 skin. It did give a pretty glow to the foundation when mixed in with it. The blush is really beautiful. I wish they would sell it in stick form like Nars does with their Multiples. That would be awesome and I would buy them all! Although I love most of Tarte’s products and even love the blush part of the “Blush and Glow”, I cannot recommend this product due to the poor performance of the luminizer. It retails for $32 for 1oz of product. It is a Sephora exclusive. I just don’t love the luminizer as a highlight and at this price point, I think you would do better with Nars.
