So, I was browsing in Ulta and I ran upon some of Almay’s new offerings for Spring 2014. I love this time of year because I’m always excited to see what is being brought to the drugstore market.
The first thing that I ran into was a new eyeshadow formula called “Shadow Softies”. It feels like sort of a mix between the texture of Maybelline’s bouncy blushes and a regular powder. Its not cream, but its not powder. Its different for sure. I wish I had a better way to describe it. I was surprised that they provided a tester of one of the colors, which I appreciate. I think drugstore products would do themselves a huge favor by providing more testers. They would get less waste from people swatching salable items.
They are retailing at Ulta for $4.99 each, but you know how drugstore pricing goes, they may cost more or less depending upon where you buy them.
The “Shadow Softies” are not the only new thing on Almay’s release list. I also saw an “Almay Smart Shade” display. It has “Smart Shade CC Luminous Primer”, “Smart Shade Anti Aging Moisturizing Makeup”, “Smart Shade Moisturizing Makeup (Original formula)” and a new concealer with 2 different colors in each package. It appears to work for undereyes and face, but I didn’t pick any up so I can’t say that with 100% certainty.
So what do you think? Have you seen these or any other new offerings from Almay? Let me know:)
Dior Show Maximizer or Urban Decay Eyelash Primer? My pick is Urban Decay. The formula is slightly thicker so it takes less work to build up product. The brush is smaller, which is just a preference of mine. Plus, Urban Decay is several dollars cheaper, which is always good! They are both excellent products! Nothing wrong with either one of them. You can’t go wrong!
I purchased the items featured and was not paid to mention them. As always, these are my own honest opinions:)
When I first tired Lancome’s Aquatique waterproof eyeshadow base/primer, I didn’t think I would like it. It seemed oily on the top and I thought it would go right through to the bottom. I was wrong. When the top layer was used up it gave way to a consistency closer to a Mac Paintpot. It got better though. It has better staying power than a Paintpot. In fact, I prefer Lancome Aquatique to Painterly Paintpot……I never in my life thought I would say that! It just goes to show that first impressions aren’t always correct. I’m glad I gave this product a chance. Hope you enjoy the review!
All items were purchased by me. I was not paid to mention or review these items.
