Review: Maybelline Spring 2012 Bouncy Bronzers and Illuminators

Maybelline has launched their Spring 2012 collection. It includes 2 Bouncy Bronzers and 2 Illuminators.

The bronzers come in two colors, Glistening Sun and Sun Glow. I did not like the Bouncy Bronzers. They have a little shimmer, which I didn’t find bothersome, but what I didn’t like about them was that both of them had a strong orange undertone. Not flattering!! Bronzers should look natural. I love the “bouncy” formula as far as texture. The bronzers are not long wearing. Just like the bouncy blushes, they have about a 4 hour wear.

The Illuminators are really good for a drugstore formula. They come in Ray of Gold (yellow) and Blissful Pink (pink)  They are not as finely milled as a high end highlighter.  They are a little chunky and they have some micro glitter.  The yellow one looked flat out yellow on my skin.  It is not a golden color.  The pink one has a really pretty hue to it.  I liked it. If you don’t want to put a lot of money into an illuminator, this is your product.  They run around $9.

So, what do you think?  Have you picked them up and if so, what are your thoughts. If not, are you going to add these to your collection?  I’d love to know!!

ELF Warm Eyeshadow Palette Summer 2012

ELF has come out with some great palettes for Spring 2012. I picked up the Elf Studio 32 Piece Warm Eyeshadow Palette and I’m really impressed with the quality, especially when compared with previous palettes I have purchased.

Traditionally, ELF palettes are hit or miss, some great colors and some not so great. This palette overall is a good palette. It has 32 warm toned shades, mostly matte, but there are a few satin and shimmer shades as well. Most of the colors are creamy, pigmented and blend well. A couple of shades did give me problems though, specifically some of the darker shades. A few of the matte shades are chalky.

The first shade of the second row (matte peachy white) and the 4th color on the 2nd row (soft pink) are chalky, but blend out okay. The 6th color on the second row (pinky purple shade) was streaky and hard to blend. The third row, 4th shade (matte peach color) was chalky and hard to blend. The The remaining shades on row 3, numbers 5-8 were streaky and hard to blend. The 5th line, 5th shade (yellow) was poorly pigmented.

I only had issues with 9 out of the 32 shades, the rest were pigmented and blended well. The remaining nine are still workable, although you may have to do a little more blending and color building.

For $5 I think this is a great deal. Its a good way to get a bunch of spring and summer colors at a great price. The packaging is okay, but I can’t complain at this price point. Its plastic, and it has a white label on the front. The packaging flips open and you get a mirror and sponge tip applicator. The package weighs 1.10oz/32g

You can get this in stores at Target and also online at eyeslipsface.com or wherever ELF products are sold. Sometimes I can find them at Kmart.

So did you pick up any of ELF’s spring offerings? Do tell!!

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Full Coverage Foundation

I found the Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Full Coverage Foundation to be buildable with a light weight feel, providing medium to full coverage depending upon how much you layer. Its very blendable and looks lovely on the face. I do recommend the foundation. It is long lasting and did not oxidize on my skin. It has an SPF 15 and is marketed as a “smart foundation”, adjusting to your skin type due to the Amazonian Clay. It retails for $38 for 1.7 oz of product. You can purchase it wherever Tarte products are sold including Ulta, Sephora, and QVC.

The Tarte Airbrush Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush is fluffy and soft. It really does make the foundation go on smoothly. It costs $32 and can also be purchased where ever Tarte products are sold.

You can get the foundation and brush together at qvc.com for $34.56 while supplies last:) What a deal!!

Have you tried the foundation or brush? I’d love to hear what you think about it!!!

Bobbie Brown Spring 2012: Miami Coral Lipstick and Bare Sparkle Lipgloss

I stopped by the Bobbie Brown counter the other day and looked at the Spring line. I picked up a lipstick and a lipgloss. I’m in love with both of them!

Miami Coral lipstick is almost like a coral nude. Its not too bright, not too pale, just perfect. The Bare Sparkle lipgloss is a super pale peach with shimmer. Together they are fantastic, but they had other lipglosses that would go with Miami Coral too. Did you pick up anything from the Spring collection?

Stila Smudge Crayons

OMG, I’m loving Stila’s new Smudge Crayons. They released them with their Spring 2012 collection. I picked up one in Smoke, just to give it a try. After I gave it a go, I went back and got Kitten. I’m seriously considering picking up the rose colored one too. They do tug a little when you apply them on your eyelid straight from the stick, but you can rub them on your finger and smooth them on. I just apply it straight from the crayon, the tugging in not too bothersome to me. They act as a good base and they also look great by themselves. I use Smoke as a liner too. They have a wide range of colors. I think they are good stuff! Have you tried them? If so, what colors did you get???? Did you like them? Give me details!!:)
